Common Grant
Application In an effort to
streamline the grants review process, and to lessen the
burden of paperwork on grantseekers, Philanthropy
Northwest (formerly the Pacific Northwest Grantmakers
Forum) developed the Common Grant Application form, which
is being used or accepted by about 50 Philanthropy
Northwest members.
Why should I use it?
First, over 50 grantmakers in the Northwest use or accept
this form. However, you need to contact the grantmaker
before submitting a proposal, as many have added or
slightly changed questions included on the form to better
fit their needs. Several grantmakers allow grantwriters
to type the questions into their own computer—a big
timesaver for most people (keep in mind that the space
for answers will remain the same). Second, it's a great
boilerplate for your grantwriting. The questions are ones
typically asked by grantmakers, what ever the project, so
it's helpful to fill this form out while you begin your
funding research.
How do I get it?
The Common Grant
Application form is included here as a Word .doc file. If you
would like to have the form faxed to you, contact the
Philanthropy Northwest office.
Remember: Before filling out the Common
Grant Application form, contact the grantmaker.
